Happy October Reader,
Over the past several weeks, I’ve shared Myla’s story — how her loss has changed my perspective and how I’ve seen God through it. Today's email is going to be a little bit shorter...
Everything I imagined my fall would look like was turned on its head, and I wasn't sure how to move forward. I couldn’t imagine “getting back to normal.” But slowly, God’s been reminding me that I don’t have to. Instead, I can embrace a new normal — one filled with meaning, purpose, and a fresh direction in my business.
In the quiet moments, I’ve felt Him nudging me to start creating again — to build something that brings hope and peace and makes a difference in other families, just like He’s been bringing to mine.
So as this new season begins, I’m easing back into my work with renewed focus. You’ll start seeing me share more about:
- the small learning pod I’ve launched, where I get to teach math face-to-face again
- building and growing my TpT store
- four new self-paced courses — designed to help middle and high schoolers rebuild confidence and truly understand math
- life as a work-from-home toddler mom
This isn’t just “business as usual.” It’s a continuation of everything I’ve learned: that life and learning both take patience, and that beauty can grow from even the hardest seasons.
Life as an Entrepreneur Update
The last couple of weeks I have been working hard to list my Algebra 1 units on TpT. So far, I’ve got Unit 1 and Unit 2 listed!
To date, I’ve only had a few products and sales on my Teachers Pay Teachers site, as it has been sadly neglected — so you can imagine my delight when my Unit 2 sold right away! I LOVE creating resources, and of course I love when something sells, but I get especially excited when I see a purchase because it means that it’s helping more students understand math — and making it easier for teachers to teach in a way that students truly get it!
As I mentioned before, I’m also working on several courses (I’ll be sharing more about those over the next several weeks), and it’s been an interesting challenge. One of the hardest things about working for yourself is that you’re not just creating content or courses — you have to figure out the tech, the marketing, and how to make everything work together. I want to share what I've learned and maybe help some of you trying to figure it out yourself!
Mom Life Story of the Week
My life as a mom is intertwined with my life as an entrepreneur, which makes for some quite a few stories!
For example…
Is it just me, or are my kids extra wild when a weather system moves through?
The other day, I had several classes — one online and two in person — and all day my kids were CRAZY. Wouldn’t leave me alone, getting into EVERYTHING, and having a meltdown about every little thing. How dare I hand my daughter the paper that she asked for! 🙄 After not having accidents all week, my almost 2-year-old decided that was the best day to pee his pants not once, not twice, but THREE times!
Like what!?
Toddlers are so hard. But I am so, so thankful for them. Experiencing loss gives a different perspective in the hard moments. On those hard days, I just have to pause and choose to change my mindset. Instead of being upset and frustrated, I try to focus on what I’m grateful for — like the fact that I even have kids to get frustrated at — and that often helps snap me out of my bad mood!
So if you are having one of those days, I feel you, I see you, and I have absolutely been you — and you ARE awesome!
Coming up…
Thank you for walking this journey with me — for reading, praying, and showing up with kindness. It means more than you know.
I can’t wait to share everything I've learned and what I've been creating!
Let’s learn something new every day,
Mrs. Holman
