A Christmas Reflection + A Quick Update

An empty chair representing loved ones who have passed.

December 17th

Hey Reader

This email is a little later than planned—my daughter has been sick (again 😢), and the week got away from me. As Christmas draws closer, I’ve found myself reflecting on how much life changes with time, and how differently the season can feel depending on what we’re carrying. I wanted to share a few thoughts from my heart today, along with a quick update.

It’s crazy how much life changes as you get older.

Growing up, I was blessed in that I didn’t experience much close loss. Older relatives passed away, but I didn’t have deep, personal relationships with them.

Once I hit my mid-twenties, though, all of that changed. Over the last four years, I’ve lost at least two people each year who meant so much to me—my father-in-law, my husband’s Granna, my great aunt, my grandpa, a teacher and mentor, my piano teacher who taught me for ten years, my daughter… and just last week, my piano teacher’s husband.

I’m thankful that he’s now in heaven with his wife—I know the past year and a half without her has been incredibly hard—but my heart breaks for the family, the grandkids, and the students he left behind.

Life is fleeting.
Life is hard.
But I’m so thankful that God is sovereign and right in the middle of it with us.

As we get closer to Christmas, I want to encourage you to pause and hug your loved ones a little tighter. Celebrate the true reason for the season—God sending His Son, Jesus, born as a baby and sent to die so that we might live forever with Him. ❤️

New in the Shop:

I’m excited to finally share that I’ve updated and refreshed my Get Ready for Pre-Algebra course—and it’s officially live!

Get Ready for Pre-Algebra is a self-paced course designed to be completed in about 8 weeks, but students are free to move faster or slower depending on their needs. It’s meant to gently bridge the gap between grade-school math and Pre-Algebra, especially for students whose understanding feels a little shaky underneath.

Rather than memorizing steps, we slow things down and focus on why math works. Throughout the course, students revisit the most essential foundational concepts, build number sense, and gain confidence—whether they’re preparing for Pre-Algebra or reviewing before Algebra 1.

If you’ve previously purchased Get Ready for Pre-Algebra and would like access to the updated version, just reply to this email with any proof of purchase (a receipt, screenshot of your course dashboard, or login email all work perfectly), and I’ll take care of the upgrade for you.

If you haven’t purchased yet and are curious, you can learn more about the updated course here:
