Onward Together
Hey Reader,
June is almost over.
I don't think I fully knew what this month was going to ask of me when it started. I knew it would be hard: the anniversaries, the memories, the first time coming back around to all of it. But there is something about actually living through it that no amount of anticipating can prepare you for. You just have to walk through it and trust that you'll come out on the other side.
Life
And here we are. The other side of June. I only have one more major milestone left…even though that one day is still hanging over my head a bit, it feels like such a relief to be on the other side of all the hard days and one year anniversaries.
I want to say thank you for being here this month. For reading, for replying, for praying. Some of you reached out after my last few emails and I want you to know that every single message meant more than I can say. Showing up in your inbox this month was one of the things that helped ground me, and I’m thankful for the privilege to do so!
Homeschool + Math
July feels like a breath of fresh air to me, and I hope it does to you too.
If you've been in survival mode this summer, whether because of grief, or busyness, or just the general weight of a hard season, I want to encourage you to let July be a reset. You don't have to have it all figured out, so try not to stress about it. You don't have to have your whole school year planned before August, cause chances are, those plans are going to change! Just focus on the next step, and we will all get there together. ❤️
If math is on your mind as you start thinking about fall, I'd encourage you to start with one question: what does my child actually need right now? Don’t focus on were the curriculum says you should be, or on what their age or grade suggests. What does YOUR child actually need? That question, honestly answered, will point you in the right direction every time. And if you want help thinking it through, I'm always just a reply away. 😉😊
Grace
Something I’ve be thinking about:
"For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 8:38–39 (ESV)
Nothing will be able to separate us. Not grief, not loss, not the weight of a multitude of hard days that threaten to overwhelm us. Nothing separates us from the love of Christ, and that love is ultimately what sustains us! I have held onto that promise with both hands this month, and I will keep holding it into July and beyond. ❤️
Thank you for walking through June with me. I'll see you next month with fresh eyes and a grateful heart!
See you soon!
- Mrs. Holman
